Who we share your data with

CARe is committed to your privacy and we never sell your information to any entity. We do sometimes share anonymised information with researchers who we have determined will improve the disaster recovery experience. If you’re in an area where we are working directly with survivors, we might work with the local, official recovery group to find resources that will help with the recovery process we will often refer you to an organization, but it sometimes requires us to share your contact information with them to verify their ability to assist you.

How long we retain your data

If you leave a comment or submit a form from the Contact Us page, the comment and its metadata are retained indefinitely. This is so we can get in touch with you or recognize and approve any follow-up comments automatically instead of holding them in a moderation queue.

For users that register on our website (if any), we also store the personal information they provide in their user profile. All users can see, edit, or delete their personal information at any time (except they cannot change their username). Website administrators can also see and edit that information. If you unsubscribe from our website you will no longer receive emails from us, but we will retain your information in an effort to avoid re-subscribing you in the future. If you want your information permanently deleted, please contact us directly using our Contact Form.

What rights you have over your data

If you have an account on this site, or have left comments, you can request to receive an exported file of the personal data we hold about you, including any data you have provided to us. You can also request that we erase any personal data we hold about you. This does not include any data we are obliged to keep for administrative, legal, or security purposes.
