Insurance/Recovery Tip:

Debris Removal

TIP: FROM OUR EXTENSIVE EXPERIENCE WITH FIRE LOSSES, ANY “DOCUMENTATION” OF YOUR HOUSE PREPARED BY AN AGENCY MAY NOT BE SUFFICIENT PROOF TO YOUR INSURANCE COMPANY ABOUT THE EXTENT OF YOUR DWELLING AND PERSONAL PROPERTY LOSS.

Before your debris is removed—AND if you want to preserve your ability to achieve a full and fair settlement of your loss—you must do some quick but CAREFUL“FORENSICS” to answer questions your insurance company will have regarding the size of your home and the quality of your house construction and your possessions.

Disaster Recovery News:

Crescent City Comeback
January 2009

A visit to New Orleans will always be worthwhile: Its charms are numerous and its cuisine and music can't be beat. Travelers who want a broader perspective of the city post-Katrina have additional options, such as touring the flood-affected areas or volunteering on a house-rebuilding project. These doses of gritty realism are as much a part of the city's experience today as the spiciest gumbo or smokiest jazz. Two Westways staffers traveled to the Crescent City last spring for an editors conference. Here's what they did.

Ready for Disaster? 'Preparedness Movement' Members Say They Are
Aug. 12, 2008

Let's face it: The news these days can be a little depressing.

People can't drive because gas is too expensive, the price of food is skyrocketing, families are losing their homes, the stock market is tanking and the Arctic ice caps might be melting, plunging the planet into serious trouble.

Quote of the Week:

Character cannot be developed in ease and quiet. Only through experience of trial and suffering can the soul be strengthened, vision cleared, ambition inspired, and success achieved.
