CARe Update:

Pricing help for your Personal Property List
CARe has purchased industry standard price guides for the San Diego County area and can make them available on a limited, reference book style basis.

On Saturday February 21 from 10:00am to 1:00pm I can meet with up to 6 people so you can fill prices into your property list. Most people find that when they use the list, they also run into items they completely forgot.

Valerie Brown of RB United has agreed to setup appointments for this endeavor. Seats are extremely limited, but if there is a high demand, we will create more times to fill the need. Please call her at 858-485-8502.

Disaster Recovery News:

Debris Hauler’s Records Don’t Match
February 08, 2009

City of San Diego taxpayers could forfeit some or most of a $4.4 million federal reimbursement for wildfire cleanup because one contractor's receipts don't back up its invoices.

The San Diego Union-Tribune examined about 2,300 weight tickets from landfills, recycling centers and public scales that A.J. Diani Construction Co. submitted to document its work clearing 68 Rancho Bernardo homes destroyed in the October 2007 wildfires.

Costly coverage
Critics complain state insurance commissioner makes it too easy for industry to raise rates
February 1, 2009

Within the past six months, the state Insurance Department has granted rate increases ranging from 4.25 percent to 6.9 percent on auto policies issued by such companies as Progressive, Farmers, Hartford, Wausau and Lincoln.

Disaster Prepared:

Westmont purchases water-pumper truck
Feb. 4, 2009

When flames roared down the hillside and across the Westmont College campus in mid-November, eucalyptus trees lit up like kindling and cut off dozens of faculty, staff and neighbors from the safety of Murchison Gym.

Australian Bushfire Death Toll Its Worst Ever
February 8, 2009

The death toll in the raging Australian bushfires has risen to at least 84, making it the country's worst fire disaster.

Police believe more bodies will be found in small towns razed by wildfires in the state of Victoria, the hardest hit area with more than 700 homes destroyed.
