SDG&E Lawsuit Q&A:

Due to the popularity of our last “Rumor” sheet and the many calls with additional questions about the lawsuit, we have updated our “Rumor” sheet to include a couple of new questions. For example:

RUMOR: If you or your attorney opt you out of the class action, you can still get back into the class.

FACT: You cannot opt out of a class that is yet to be certified. Although you can opt out of a class action at any time, once you opt out, you can never return to the class.

Insurance Industry In The News:

Calif. orders Allstate to cut homeowner rate - July 10, 2008

The Associated Press:
Allstate Corp. has been ordered to cut its California homeowner insurance rate by more than 25 percent, a move that will save consumers an estimated $255 million a year, the state insurance commissioner announced Thursday.

Commissioner Steve Poizner signed an order Tuesday rejecting Allstate's request for a 9.3 percent increase and instead mandated a 28.5-percent rollback in rates for about 850,000 customers.

More than 10,000 people who live in this town in the foothills of the Sierra Nevada Mountains are being encouraged to evacuate as the fires draw closer and the air quality is now rated as "hazardous."
